BEVERLY HILLS, February 14, (THEWILL) – Dozens of Boko Haram insurgents Saturday morning invaded the Northeastern city of Gombe, the capital of Gombe State, firing sporadically and leaving behind leaflets urging residents to shun the general elections, witnesses said.
Following the invasion, the state government has imposed a curfew in the city, while troops have been deployed.
Witnesses reported seeing a fighter jet belonging to the Nigerian military circling the city that witnessed a suicide attack during a President Goodluck Jonathan's presidential rally some days back.
Nigeria has postponed elections due to be held today ( Saturday ) because of the Boko Haram.
Thousands have died particularly in northeastern Nigeria since the Boko Haram began its campaign to Islamise Nigeria.
