Paul Pogba has made what the real estate company involved in
the purchase has called an investment in property but time will tell if
it is with a view to a move
In a move that will hardly serve to quash any rumours of an imminent transfer, Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba has decided to purchase a villa in Barcelona.
Real estate company Proto Group Ltd confirmed the sale, yet released a statement – likely at the request of Pogba himself – stating that the purchase was made purely as an investment.
It is indeed no secret that Barcelona want to secure the services of the 23-year-old Frenchman, one of world football’s most sought after players.
“The acquisition of a villa in Barcelona was not in any way made for footballing reasons, but only and exclusively as a property investment,” wrote the company’s director general Alessandro Proto.
“We are informing the public because, given that the footballer is a
public personality, the news will definitely come out in Spanish
newspapers, eventually giving rise to journalistic speculation which we
do not intend to feed.”
It remains to be seen whether Pogba has made this investment purely for the motives stated by Proto, or in anticipation of a permanent move to Catalonia further down the line.
