Abuja - The upper chamber of the national assembly is set to hold a session on the new fuel price announced by the federal government, Nation reports.
The debate is said to afford the senators the opportunity to take a stand as regards the increase.
It was learnt that while some senators were in support of the increase, some others kicked against it.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs Abu Ibrahim and Chairman Committee on Local and Foreign Debts Chairman Shehu Sani, sharply disagreed over the necessity for the new price regime.
Senator Ibrahim (Katsina South) backed the new pump price of N145 while Senator Sani (Kaduna Central) insisted that the increase would come with a lot of social implications.
