In Sharia law, adultery can be punishable by death.
But Morocco’s penal code, article 491, provides for a prison term of between one and two years for adultery.
It states adultery can be prosecuted only if the spouse of one of the parties files a complaint.
In Saudi Arabia women are stoned to death for committing acts of adultery while men are usually given lashes.
